MTB (Mycobacterium tuberculosis)
Each year, Mycobacterium tuberculosis accounts for nearly 2 million deaths and is responsible for 9 million newly diagnosed cases of tuberculosis worldwide. MTB is the most common infectious disease observed among Indians. Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease caused infection of viral strain Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB). Molecular testing of MTB is superior over conventional culture techniques of testing providing the better way to detect DNA. Molecular testing of MTB is a part of confirmation testing for clinical diagnosis of tuberculosis. MTB molecular testing for drug resistance is also done to check the resistivity of drug and monitor the efficacy of therapy.
